What is it ?

MACROLANE ® is a new hyaluronic acid that permits silhouette sculpting.
This particular hyaluronic acid has a certain density and can be fashioned like modelling clay.
Its advantage: It works for 2 years on average.

With this product the surgeon can:

• Increase the size of small breasts.
• Refill breasts that have lost their buoyancy after pregnancy.
• Correct asymmetry.

But equally fill in an imperfection such as an irregularity after liposuction.

 

What happens during the operation ?

Under simple local anaesthetic, the MACROLANE ® is injected into the desired area through a small incision of 1 to 2 mm.
To do this the surgeon uses a cannula (a sort of long round-tipped needle). Its diameter is no larger than 2mm.
What are the after-effects ?

Like Liposculpture, you will feel some discomfort for 48 hours and a light edema (swelling) for 8 hours.

The product is well tolerated, does not cause inflammation and does not hinder breast cancer screening.

Advantages :

• It is easy to add or extract if necessary.
• These injections give more natural looking results than traditional implants.
• It is a minor operation without general anaesthetic, especially for small volumes.

 

Drawbacks

• Limited life span, injections are required every 18 months or so.
• It’s relatively expensive: approximately 3000€ to go from an A or B cup to a B or C (bearing in mind that implants cost about 4000€ regardless of their size).
